Allergy Test
Using the very latest technology of bio energetic resonance, the QXCI measures your body's reaction to over 9000 food stuffs, household and environmental substances. Straps are placed around your wrists, ankles and head and you simply relax for 20 minutes whilst the reading is taken.
What can the Test tell me?
If your reaction to a particular food, every day chemical or cosmetic is not normal it will register as either an intolerance, a mild to moderate allergy or a moderate to severe allergy. The results print out immediately in an easy to understand form.
What does this mean?
The more intolerances you have the more sensitive your digestive system will be and the more allergies you will be prone to developing. High intolerance can be the cause of IBS, Candida, Crohns and Coeliac diseases. Intolerances can inhibit certain vitamins and nutrients from being absorbed so it is suggested that they are eliminated completely from your diet. Mild to moderate intolerances should be restricted for a period and gradually re introduced as your immune system strengthens.
What can I do to improve my health?
A trained naturopath will give you advice and support on how to change your diet. There is a wide range of options to choose from these days so you don't need to go hungry! Supplements and herbal remedies may be suggested to boost your immune system or get rid of any yeast infections or parasites.

Craniosacral Therapy
This is a gentle form of body work. It is based on findings made by osteopaths about the motion of the cranial bones, the sacrum, the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord and the cerebrospinal fluid. The therapist listens with the hands for any restrictions to the normal free and rhythmic motion of these tissues. The aim is to restore normal motion in the cranio sacral system by releasing the restrictions.
Particularly effective for babies and children with colic and sleeping problems, adults suffering from depression, PMT, insomnia, headaches, neck and back pain. Trauma held within the body after accidents, particularly whiplash, has responded favourably to cranio sacral therapy.

Osteopathy
Osteopaths undertake a rigorous 4-5 year medical degree in order to acquire and maintain their registration with their statutory body, the General Osteopathic Council.
Consultation starts with a talk about the problem and some medical history . A structural assessment of the body is conducted with various gentle tests to establish where the problem is coming from and how best to fix it.
Osteopaths are highly trained in recognizing the many causes of mechanical problems in the body, which can range from emotional upset to the daily strain of our lives and jobs, and in treating them in the most effective way. Osteopathic care is likely to achieve long term relief from physical problems rather than a temporary fix.

Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional therapy is for anyone who wants to improve his or her health. You may have experienced symptoms for so long that you have forgotten what it is like to feel really well. With the help of a nutritional therapist you have the power to make a very profound change to your health.
We all need to eat, but what we choose to eat and drink is vital to what we are and what are bodies may become. Health professionals are well aware that many diseases and illnesses are often at least in part linked to poor nutrition. So understanding and paying attention to our diets becomes all the more important if we want to achieve good health and one of the most beneficial steps we can ever take in working towards achieving it, is to start by addressing our diets - a healthy life begins with a healthy diet.
Nutritional Therapy is the application of Nutritional Science for the promotion of health and disease prevention. It seeks to understand the key underlying reasons for your health problems and in doing so aims to treat the root causes as well as the physical symptoms you may be experiencing by making simple changes to your specific diet and lifestyle.
Nutritional Therapy is based on the principle that we are all uniquely biochemically different and therefore it follows that our nutritional needs can vary individually as well. Nutritional Therapy is therefore all about removing the 'one size fits all approach to health' and tailoring a programme that is specific to YOUR personal needs. Looking at how YOUR individual body functions as a whole and making connections between what you eat, how you live and your medical history. Making educated changes to your diet can bring about huge improvements to your health, by using the therapeutic and healing power of food and supplements that your body specifically needs, under the advice and guidance of a qualified Nutritional Therapist such as Roz.

What does a consultation involve?
Before your first appointment you will be sent a detailed questionnaire to complete and return along with a 5 day food diary to be analysed before the consultation.
First consultations will normally last 75 minutes. During this appointment, more detailed information about you is gathered concerning your medical history and lifestyle. Throughout the consultation your personal needs will be paramount. Roz will work with you to provide a plan that is both appropriate to your goals, taste and budget as well as being achievable with your lifestyle.
In certain cases, I may also recommend laboratory testing if I feel it would be beneficial to the diagnosis. All of the tests I recommend are science based and are conducted by well known laboratories.
How often will I need a treatment?
At least one follow up consultation is usually recommended 4-6 weeks after your first consultation to discuss and monitor your progress and to make changes to your personal programme where necessary. Consultations will either be 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on your individual requirements. The number of consultations needed varies between each individual client, but on average two to three consultations are required.

Homeopathy
A natural form of medicine based on 'treating like with like'. The remedies are carefully selected, matching the symptoms the patient produces. They work by stimulating the body's own healing powers to restore the balance of health.
Homoeopathy can treat most illnesses and disorders, emotional and physical and even works when people are on long term conventional medication.
Used properly it has no side effects and there are no risks involved. This is why many people turn to homeopathy when other medication has failed or is not advisable and why it is used during childbirth, for babies and children.

Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient complementary therapy which deals with the principle that there are reflex points on the feet and hands which correspond to all the glands, organs and structures of the body. By applying gentle pressure to these points a Reflexologist can detect imbalances within the body. A treatment improves blood circulation, releases toxins, restores energy and provides deep relaxation. Reflexology brings relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions by maintaining the body's natural equilibrium.

Reiki
Reiki is a system of natural hands-on healing originating in Japan. Reiki works with the vital energy around and within all living things called 'Ki' ('Qi' or 'Chi' in Chinese). During a treatment, 'Ki' is channelled into the client through the practitioner's hands being placed in a series of non-intrusive positions covering the covering the client's body. Reiki works on all levels of a person (mental, physical, emotional and spiritual) to restore balance, health and wellbeing. It can be very relaxing; it can boost the immune system, balance emotions and relieve many illnesses by reinforcing the body's natural ability to heal itself. As a natural form of healing Reiki can support and enhance other forms of treatment.
Sports/Deep Tissue Massage
This therapy is a comprehensive package of care for people with pain and injury problems that affect them at work, and/ or, during their leisure time. These could be work, sports or non-sports related problems that affect joints, muscles, tendons or ligaments (soft tissue) and could cause pain in most areas of the body.
Sports and remedial massage realigns joints, areas of which are being worn unevenly, causing imbalances in the joint causing pain, swelling and in the worst case scenarios; arthritis.
It acts also as an early detection system and can prevent the build up of an acute injury.
The therapy consists of four key components:
- Assessment: whereby the causes of the problem are identified by taking a present and retrospective view. This includes medical history, lifestyle, postural assessment plus passive and active range of movement testing and strength.
- Treatment: to cure the site of the pain or injury or the factors causing it.
- Re-education: clients learn how to change unhelpful practices in order to look after their bodies and prevent repeat injuries.
- Proprioceptive Work: such as stretching and strength, conditioning programs are set for the client to do between treatment sessions until the problem is resolved.

Colon Hydrotherapy
At Balham Therapy Rooms we use a LIBBE system which is uniquely effective, and private.
You will experience a gentle odourless and relaxing method of cleansing your colon. Waste material is evacuated by a gentle, repeated flushing with gravity fed, purified, filtered, warm water. You can release without having to inform the therapist. The therapist will only stay in the room if you ask.
As you relax on the bed water is introduced gently into your colon through a pencil thin rectal tube which you insert yourself in privacy. The therapist will pop in to monitor you occasionally or will stay with you if you wish and can massage your abdomen if necessary.
As your colon slowly fills with water you will, after a few minutes, automatically release waste matter with the water directly into the system.. What you may release is visible through a sealed clear viewing tube beside the bed.
Your first session will last for an hour and a half, the first fifty minutes will be a full consultation followed by forty minutes of hydrotherapy.
Generally everyone needs between 3 and 6 sessions to cleanse the 1.5m of colon, initiating the body's detoxification process and decreasing the symptoms of toxicity. Debris built up over years is gently removed. Once impacted material is removed your colon can begin again to function normally and you will feel energetic and lighter.
What is the purpose of colon hydrotherapy?
Waste material which has remained in the colon for some time poses several problems. Firstly this material is quite toxic. These poisons can re-enter and circulate in the blood stream making us feel ill, tired or weak. Secondly they impair the colon's ability to assimilate minerals and vitamins. Finally, material stuck on the colon wall can inhibit muscular action causing sluggish bowel movements and constipation.
How can I tell if I have toxic material in my colon?
Common symptoms of toxicity within the colon include headaches, backaches, bad breath, body odour, irritability, confusion, skin problems, abdominal gas, bloating, diarrhoea, sciatic pain.
What makes the colon so important?
While the lungs, skin, kidneys and liver also serve to eliminate toxins, people have experienced throughout history that when they ensure that the colon is cleansed and healed, the well being of the whole body is greatly enhanced. Colon hydrotherapy has been found to be the most effective process available to accomplish this work quickly and easily.
What will colon hydrotherapy do to my colon?
Your colon will be cleansed of impacted material.
Its muscle tone will be improved aiding motions.
